【摘要】:1.1Thisspecificationcoversbrickintendedforbothstructuralandnonstructuralmasonrywhereexternalappearanceisnotarequirement.Thebrickareprismaticunitsavailableinavarietyofsizes,shapes,textures,andcolors.Thespecificationdoesnotcoverbrickintendedforuseasfacingunitsorwheresurfaceappearanceisarequirement,(seeSpecificationC216).Thisspecificationdoesnotcoverbrickintendedforuseaspavingbrick(seeSpecificationC902).1.2Thepropertyrequirementsofthisstandardapplyatthetimeofpurchase.Theuseofresultsfromtestingofbrickextractedfrommasonrystructuresfordeterminingconformanceornonconformancetothepropertyrequirements(Section3)ofthisstandardisbeyondthescopeofthisstandard.1.3Brickaremanufacturedfromclay,shale,orsimilarnaturallyoccurringearthysubstancesandsubjectedtoaheattreatmentatelevatedtemperatures(firing).Theheattreatmentmustdevelopsufficientfiredbondbetweentheparticulateconstituentstoprovidethestrengthanddurabilityrequirementsofthisspecification(seeTerminologyC1232).1.4Brickareshapedduringmanufacturebymolding,pressing,orextrusion,andtheshapingmethodisawaytodescribethebrick.1.5Thetextofthisstandardreferencesnotesandfootnoteswhichprovideexplanatorymaterial.Thesenotesandfootnotes(excludingthoseintablesandfigures)shallnotbeconsideredasrequirementsofthestandard.1.6Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.
